Recap: Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds vs. Sargent Farmers

The Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 55-39 win over Sargent. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Sangre de Cristo also won the last time the pair played last Saturday.

Sangre de Cristo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaydra Cordova, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Palma Enriquez, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.

Despite the defeat, Sargent saw an underclassman step up: Kandace Pargin scored 19 points. Kimmy Pargin was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.

Sargent struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Sangre de Cristo's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Sargent, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Sangre de Cristo will take on Soroco in a holiday battle at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at. Soroco comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Sargent will be home for the holidays to greet Ignacio at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
