Softball Recap: Pius XI Catholic Takes a Loss

Pius XI Catholic extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-13. They fell 4-0 to the Waukesha North Northstars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Northstars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 on Tuesday.

As for Waukesha North, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.

For Waukesha North's part, Sarah Orlowski was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Orlowski was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cheyanne Jetto was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Jordan, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Pius XI Catholic will square off against Catholic Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Popes' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Waukesha North, they will challenge Union Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Northstars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 11.5 runs per game this season.
