St. Mary had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Ellicott Thunderhawks with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Thunderhawks, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: St. Mary's took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-7, 25-11.

Leading St. Mary's to victory were Julia Clieves and Ally Flanigan. Clieves had 23 assists and five aces, while Flanigan had five aces and one assist. That's the most assists Clieves has posted over her last 11 contests. Claire Collins also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: St. Mary's was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive matches.

St. Mary's now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Ellicott, their defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-18.

St. Mary's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ellicott, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against The Vanguard School on the 30th.
