Baseball Recap: South Boston Gets the Win

South Boston was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the East Boston Jets, sneaking past 9-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Carlos Francisco made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Francisco was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-4. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daviel Mateo, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3. Yowelfri Guerrero was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

South Boston now has a winning record of 2-1. As for East Boston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Boston will head out to take on Boston International at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for East Boston, they will venture away from home to challenge Malden at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Tornados' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Jets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
