Ariyeh Spencer leads a balanced attack to beat Hobgood Charter

The Columbia Wildcats won the last time they faced the Hobgood Charter Raiders, and things went their way on Friday too. Columbia took down Hobgood Charter 68-53.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Columbia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ariyeh Spencer, who scored 16 points along with nine assists and seven steals. That's the first time this season that Spencer posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Sawyer, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.

Hobgood Charter lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hudson Roberson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 35.8% of Hobgood Charter's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Khrie Rascoe, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Columbia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. As for Hobgood Charter, they dropped their record down to 5-6 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbia will take on Mattamuskeet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mattamuskeet is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Hobgood Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Bear Grass Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Bear Grass Charter is ranked 531st, while Hobgood Charter is ranked 535th).
