Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is Bear River's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

Bear River won the last time they faced Cottonwood and things went their way on Monday too. The Bears blew past the Colts 8-1. With that victory, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Kolten Summers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Higgs, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Nick Oliverson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Bear River hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.

Bear River has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cottonwood, they moved to 14-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
