Softball Recap: Southside Panthers vs. Boaz Pirates
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southside had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Boaz Pirates a 12-0 shutout. Southside's victory was all the more impressive since Boaz was averaging only 3.36 runs allowed on the season.
Jalyn Allen was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched. Allen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
In other batting news, Ava Ramsey was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and a run. Another player making a difference was Kadey Barbe, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Southside's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-10-1. As for Boaz, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 29-11-2.
