It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southside had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Boaz Pirates a 12-0 shutout. Southside's victory was all the more impressive since Boaz was averaging only 3.36 runs allowed on the season.

Jalyn Allen was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched. Allen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

In other batting news, Ava Ramsey was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and a run. Another player making a difference was Kadey Barbe, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
