Watchung Hills Regional took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against South Plainfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Tigers on Thursday. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 9-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on CHRIS DORSI, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was MAX EDER, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Watchung Hills Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Plainfield only managed five hits.

Watchung Hills Regional has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for South Plainfield, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watchung Hills Regional will challenge East Brunswick at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for South Plainfield, they will take on Somerville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
