Football Recap: Christion Peacock Key Part of Team Effort in Raiders Win

There's no place like home for Walton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 34-21 victory over the Wheeler Wildcats on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Walton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christion Peacock, who rushed for 69 yards and one score on only nine carries, and also threw for 75 yards and one touchdown. The Raiders also got a significant boost from Christian Govea, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.

Despite the loss, Wheeler still got an impressive performance from Patrick McCollough, who threw for 246 yards and three TDs while completing 72% of his passes, and also rushed for 59 yards on only six carries. The Wildcats' leading receiver Brock Adams was McCollough's top target yet again, picking up 118 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The victory got Walton back to even at 3-3. As for Wheeler, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, after each having a week off, Walton and Marietta will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. As for Wheeler, they will challenge Cherokee at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. The Wildcats will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
