Softball Recap: Venice Takes a Loss

Venice saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of the Arnold Marlins by a score of 2-1. The matchup marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Jayde Neptune was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Venice saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylin Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Venice and nudges their season record down to 8-3. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Arnold, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Venice didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-3 victory against Bishop Kenny on the 28th. As for Arnold, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-2 defeat against Vanguard on the 28th.
