Softball Preview: Mt. Vernon Mountaineers vs. Clever Blue Jays
Mt. Vernon has been on the road for six straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Clever Blue Jays at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mt. Vernon stacked a 19th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over Strafford.
Mt. Vernon got a massive performance out of Hali Stokes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Molly Daniels, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Clever was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They skirted past Sparta 7-6.
Mt. Vernon's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-8. As for Clever, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
