Basketball Game Preview: King's Christian Academy Eagles vs. Lanham Christian Lions

King's Christian Academy hasn't had much luck against Lanham Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The King's Christian Academy Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Lanham Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, King's Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 79-73 to Southern Maryland Christian Academy.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Kyle Kovich and Aaron McGlone. McGlone had a great game and almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Kovich did his best for the losing side, putting up four points in addition to nine boards and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Lanham Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their 17-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 77-69 to Avalon. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lions came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Black Knights are ranked 103rd).

King's Christian Academy will need focus on slowing down Naz Joy, one of several Lanham Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 18 points and six rebounds. Joy's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Williams, who earned 14 points and six boards.

Lanham Christian's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5. As for King's Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-17.

King's Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 80-58 defeat they got from Lanham Christian in their previous matchup back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point King's Christian Academy was down 40-18.
