Basketball Recap: Ellie Williams Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Maple Valley

Union City won the last time they faced Maple Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Union City Chargers came out on top against the Maple Valley Lions by a score of 55-46. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Chargers considering their 25-point performance the game before.

Union City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Williams, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards Williams has posted since back in January of 2024. Nala Payne was another key player, putting up ten points along with six assists and five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Maple Valley lost, don't look at Ines Sanchez Feito. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbigail Harvey, who had six points and five rebounds.

Union City's record now sits at 7-14. As for Maple Valley, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

When Union City and Maple Valley next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Union City will try to stop Concord's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
