Baseball Recap: Girard Gets the Win

Girard's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the McKinley Red Dragons. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Red Dragons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Pierson Ginocchi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Girard saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bobby Levonyak, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Girard hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McKinley struck out nine times.

Girard's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for McKinley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Girard will have a chance to go back-to-back against McKinley: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
