Softball Recap: Highland Park Comes Up Short

Highland Park had lost six straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-18-1 to make it seven. They came up short against the Sunray Bobcats, falling 23-13. Even though they lost, the Hornets' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.4 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Aubrey Drerup was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Haley Rogers, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

As for Sunray, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Sunray's side, they got a massive performance out of Wynn Boatmun, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with seven stolen bases and four runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Idali Stone, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Highland Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sunray, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Floydada at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Whirlwinds' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Bobcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
