Basketball Recap: Arizona Lutheran Academy Comes Up Short on the Road Against ALA - West Foothills + How To Watch

Arizona Lutheran Academy kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the ALA - West Foothills Guardians by a score of 95-92. The Coyotes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Guardians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Arizona Lutheran Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jay Ohm dropped a double-double with 32 points and 13 rebounds. Rafael Soriano was another key player, putting up 14 points and seven boards.

ALA - West Foothills' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brendon Kurzawski led the charge by going 10-for-17 on his way to 27 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Those 27 points gave Kurzawski a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Lauer, who shot 70% from the field to rack up 21 points and five rebounds.

ALA - West Foothills' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Arizona Lutheran Academy has already played their next matchup, a 60-49 win against Camp Verde on the 5th. As for ALA - West Foothills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 97-60 victory against Wickenburg on the 4th.
