Recap: Mountain Vista Golden Eagles vs. Heritage Eagles

You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles's strategy against the Heritage Eagles on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mountain Vista blew Heritage out of the water with a 83-28 final score. With Mountain Vista ahead 38-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Mountain Vista was led to victory by Grace Roscoe and Kennedy Spellman. Roscoe dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Spellman went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 36 points and 6 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Spellman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Arianna Akey, who scored four points along with four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Heritage lost, one person who can't be blamed is Avalon Lux-offermann. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Caelan DeBolt was another key contributor, scoring four points.

The win makes it two in a row for Mountain Vista and bumps their season record up to 8-11. As for Heritage, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Vista will take on Ponderosa at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Ponderosa is coming into the match with six straight losses on the road, meaning Mountain Vista will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Heritage, they will be playing at home against Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Douglas County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 last Friday.
