Basketball Recap: Musselman Triumphs

On Friday, the Musselman Applemen earned a 59-48 victory over the East Hardy Cougars. The Applemen pushed the score to 51-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars cut but never quite recovered from.

When it comes to explaining why East Hardy lost, don't look at Brooklynn Tinnell. Despite the final result, she went 12-for-27 on her way to 36 points and five steals. That was a full 75% of East Hardy's points, marking the fifth time in a row Tinnell has posted more than a third of the team's points. Chloe Miller was another key player, putting up eight points along with nine rebounds and six assists.

Musselman's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for East Hardy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Musselman and East Hardy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Musselman will square off against Hedgesville at 7:00 p.m. on February 28th. Musselman is facing Hedgesville at the right time seeing as Hedgesville is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for East Hardy, they will face off against Northern Garrett at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
