Basketball Recap: Cloverdale Comes Up Short

Cloverdale came up into this matchup off a tough 51-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the St. Helena Saints by a score of 58-55 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 997th, while the Saints are ranked 387th).

This is the second loss in a row for Cloverdale and nudges their season record down to 9-12. As for St. Helena, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.

Cloverdale will venture away from home to challenge Upper Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cloverdale is facing Upper Lake at the right time seeing as Upper Lake is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for St. Helena, they will challenge Kelseyville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Helena is on a 14-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Kelseyville a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
