Baseball Recap: Glenn Victorious

Glenn proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 20) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Northwood Chargers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bobcats have posted since March 19th.

Not much got past Logan Stump, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Northwood off the board. Stump also tossed a walk, which is notable because Glenn is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Glenn saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derrick Stevens, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Glenn has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Northwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glenn will square off against Davie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the War Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Northwood, they will face off against Cornerstone Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
