Baseball Recap: Sheridan Blackhawks vs. Tri-Central Trojans

Sheridan extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-9 in the process. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tri-Central Trojans. The Blackhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Dayne Voege was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Austin Hinshaw also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Nate struck out 11 batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Cherry went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Nate earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Nate has become a key player for Tri-Central: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Brody Arnold was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Weston Enright was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Sheridan has already played their next match, a 4-3 win against Clinton Central on the 2nd. As for Tri-Central, they will take on Wes-Del at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.14 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
