Softball Game Preview: Clay City Eels vs. West Washington Senators

The Clay City Eels will challenge the West Washington Senators at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clay City 3.5, West Washington 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Clay City is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Orleans get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Eels sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Lizzy Sinders made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over ten innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellie Stoelting, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, West Washington waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 4-0.

The result came thanks to Emery Haub's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, West Washington's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adelle Brown, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Clay City's record is now 19-6. As for West Washington, their record now sits at 23-5.
