Basketball Recap: Goshen Takes a Loss

If Goshen was riding high fresh off their 71-31 takedown of Western Brown last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Goshen Warriors were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 64-63 to the Batavia Bulldogs. The match was a 32-32 toss-up at halftime, but the Warriors couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Goshen still got an impressive performance from Bray Settelmayer, who went 13 for 21 en route to 30 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. Those 30 points gave Settelmayer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Graham Roark, who posted 13 points.

Goshen's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 8-5. As for Batavia, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Goshen didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-58 victory against Northwest on the 21st. As for Batavia, they are taking a road trip to take on Clinton-Massie at 7:15 p.m. on January 24th. Batavia is facing Clinton-Massie at the right time seeing as Clinton-Massie is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
