Softball Game Preview: McClintock Chargers vs. Fairfax Stampede

The McClintock Chargers are taking a road trip to take on the Fairfax Stampede at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

McClintock took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Alhambra. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Chargers considering their two-run performance the game before.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairfax). They blew past Metro Tech 29-19 on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Stampede sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Emma Saiz made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs.

In other batting news, Nia Hardin was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Olson, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with five runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Fairfax hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Metro Tech struck out 13 times.

McClintock's record now sits at 6-3. As for Fairfax, their record now sits at 7-3.

McClintock might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Fairfax in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can McClintock avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
