Kentucky recruit leaves game, severity of injury uncertain.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Kentucky commit Anthony Davis injured his right thumb and wrist in a Hoophall Classic showcase game Monday at Blake Arena on the campus of Springfield College.

Davis injured the area while driving to the hoop with less than three minutes remaining in Perspective's (Ill.) 62-53 loss to St. John's Prep (Mass.). The 6-foot-10 forward was fouled on the play while trying to help his team recover from a 56-53 deficit.

Davis lowered his head onto his right knee wincing in pain as a trainer analyzed his wrist before leaving the bench.

"It's nothing serious; he's just going to have to put it in a splint and ice it," said coach Cortez Hale. "That's probably it. It's nothing too serious. He should be cool."

Davis was seen walking to the locker room after the game icing his right wrist but Hale said Davis refused to comment on the injury and was on his way to see the trainer. Later Hale said Davis actually injured his thumb.

Davis is ranked sixth in the MaxPreps 2011 Top Players to Watch and is arguably one of the best forwards in his class and in the nation. The senior finished with 30 points and 16 rebounds in 28 minutes despite battling foul trouble most of the game.
