Marin Catholic coach Mazi Moayed said Goff has been making "winning plays" his whole life and is ready to start and perform for NFL's Rams.

"We're all excited and thrilled and rooting for him full force," Mazi Moayed said Tuesday about an hour after the Rams named Goff the starting quarterback for Sunday's home game versus the Dolphins. "We're hoping to bring a good energy and good vibration."
The Rams maneuvered last spring to get the No. 1 draft spot in order to pick Goff, who threw for 7,066 yards and 93 touchdowns and went 39-4 as a starter at Marin Catholic.
Coach Jeff Fisher has taken a lot of heat for sitting Goff to this point behind Case Keenum. Moayed, who was invited by Goff and his family to join them at the NFL draft, said his former pupil was patient but itching to get in.
"He didn't get to this point without being a competitive guy," Moayed said. "He wants to be the best guy. He's been champing at the bit but just waiting for the moment. The moment was put on hold but now that moment is here."
So how will he do?
"Hopefully he gives them the spark they need," Moayed said. "I think he'll do well.
"You hear people talk and you wonder if they think he just started playing football. Obviously the NFL is a different level, but he's been making winning plays his whole life. That's who he is. That's not going to stop now."
