Brecksville-Broadview Heights and Hudson are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2020, but not for long. Brecksville-Broadview Heights wouldn't go down easily and took Stow-Munroe Falls into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-19, 23-25, 23-25, 16-14.
Meanwhile, Hudson was able to grind out a solid victory over Hathaway Brown on Wednesday, taking the game 3-1.
Hudson had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-11, 25-17, 25-12.
Brecksville-Broadview Heights better keep an eye on Maribeth Slater. She was instrumental in Hudson's win, getting nine digs and five aces. That's the most aces Slater has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Addison Benoit, who had nine digs and three aces.
Hudson was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 21 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Brecksville-Broadview Heights' loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Hudson, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
