Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ari Woodard and Eryn Griffin Lead Lake Highland Prep to Victory

Lake Highland Prep waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 45-33 victory over the Tampa Catholic Crusaders.

Lake Highland Prep was led to victory by Eryn Griffin and Ari Woodard. Griffin almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds, while Woodard posted 16 points and seven boards. That's the most boards Woodard has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Valeria Munoz, who had five points.

Lake Highland Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Lake Highland Prep pushed their record up to 12-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Tampa Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-10.

Lake Highland Prep and Tampa Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Lake Highland Prep will face off against McKeel Academy on Thursday up 289 places (74 vs. 363). Similarly, Tampa Catholic (ranked 69th) will meet Winthrop College Prep Academy (ranked 464th) on Tuesday.
