Softball Game Preview: Westwood Warriors vs. Dobson Mustangs

The Westwood Warriors will take on the Dobson Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

While Westwood's victory against Skyline wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Coyotes 13-11. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Coyotes: they've now won seven in a row.

Navi Brinkerhoff was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Valerie Saucedo, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Westwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Dobson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against Mesa, falling 26-13.

Dobson's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Westwood, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10-1.

Westwood took their win against Dobson in their previous matchup last Wednesday by a conclusive 15-9 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
