Basketball Game Preview: Giddings Buffaloes vs. Wimberley Texans

The Giddings Buffaloes are taking a road trip to take on the Wimberley Texans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Giddings has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 5.

On Tuesday, Giddings took a blow against Fayetteville, falling 69-42.

Meanwhile, Wimberley unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Belton. While losing is never fun, the Texans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Tigers are ranked 101st).

Giddings will have to keep a close watch on Gavin Olmer and Holden Crawford, a pair of players who had a big impact on Wimberley's prior game. Olmer almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards, while Crawford went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points. That's the most points Crawford has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Wortham, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points.

Wimberley's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-6. As for Giddings, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
