Recap: Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic Yellowjackets vs. Tolland Eagles
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic Yellowjackets walked away with it. They snuck past the Eagles with a 22-16 victory on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evan Schibi led the charge by rushing for 107 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Schibi's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Avenia, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Although Tolland took the loss, they still got scores from AJ Cady and Ben Gordon.
Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Tolland, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.
Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic is on the road again on Sunday and play against Watertown at 12:30 p.m. on December 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Watertown is ranked 77th, while Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic is ranked 72nd). Tolland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
