Baseball Recap: High Point's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

High Point lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Northwestern, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. The Eagles blew past the Wildcats 25-4 on Friday. That looming 25-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.

Bryan Perez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Perez was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Keysi Matos was a standout: he scored five runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-5. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.5 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ramon Brito Jr, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

High Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwestern only posted a batting average of .200.

The win keeps High Point at an undefeated 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 17.8 runs this season. As for Northwestern, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
