Basketball Recap: Jane Moreland and Jaliah Jackson Secure Win for Millbrook

Millbrook won the last time they faced Liberty and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Millbrook Pioneers put the hurt on the Liberty Eagles with a sharp 60-39 victory. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Eagles are ranked 318th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Millbrook was led to victory by Jaliah Jackson and Jane Moreland. Jackson posted 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Moreland dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Jones, who earned six points and three steals.

Millbrook smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Liberty's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ivy Cavins, who had ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. Mckenzie Bell was another key player, putting up ten points.

Millbrook's record now sits at 7-4. As for Liberty, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Millbrook wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-44 win against James Wood on the 15th. Liberty has also already played their next contest (against Handley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
