Volleyball Recap: Avon Takes a Loss

Avon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the Center Grove Trojans. The Orioles were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-19, 24-26, 25-23, 25-13.

Avery Walter paced Avon's offense, picking up 14 kills. Walter got some help from Cali Pence and her 33 assists. Walter was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Avery Bastein was the offensive standout of the contest as she had nine digs and three aces.

Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Center Grove, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Avon has already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Bellmont on the 23rd. As for Center Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Martinsville on the 21st.
