Baseball Game Preview: Caldwell Redskins vs. Barnesville Shamrocks

The Caldwell Redskins will square off against the Barnesville Shamrocks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Barnesville will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Caldwell extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Redskins never let Shenandoah get on the board and left with an 11-0 win.

Meanwhile, Barnesville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 10-4 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Shamrocks have posted against the Tigers since April 11, 2019.

Caldwell's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Barnesville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.

Caldwell couldn't quite get it done against Barnesville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Redskins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
