Softball Recap: Uxbridge Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Uxbridge put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hopedale Blue Raiders a 7-0 shutout. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

Erin O'Day made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 16 over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lola Grube, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Bailey Dzivasen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four runs.

Uxbridge's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hopedale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Uxbridge will be playing at home against Bay Path RVT at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Minutemen have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season. As for Hopedale, they are taking a road trip to square off against Milford at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
