Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Piles Up the Points Against Wilby

Holy Cross can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They blew past the Wilby Wildcats, posting a 62-32 win. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ja'Nell Saunders, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Saunders is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Raine Upchurch, who went 6 of 15 en route to 13 points.

Holy Cross' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points per game. As for Wilby, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-4.

Holy Cross has already played their next contest, a 75-41 win against Oxford on the 23rd. As for Wilby, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 44-43 loss against Watertown on the 24th.
