Basketball Game Preview: Wicomico Indians vs. Washington Jaguars

Wicomico has gone 9-1 against Washington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Wicomico Indians will head out to square off against the Washington Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wicomico has nine straight victories, Washington has 14 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Monday, Wicomico had just enough and edged Decatur out 47-45.

Wicomico's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carlisa Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. Johnson's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Se'Lah Foreman was another key player, putting up 20 points and six assists.

Wicomico smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Washington was beaten by Parkside 68-27 on Monday. The Jaguars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-17.

Wicomico's win was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.

Everything came up roses for Wicomico against Washington in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured an 85-12 victory. In that contest, Wicomico amassed a halftime lead of 61-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
