Baseball Recap: Lamesa Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Lamesa won the last time they faced Brownfield and things went their way on Saturday too. The Tornadoes came out on top against the Cubs by a score of 5-1.

Jonah Muniz made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Lamesa's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't). Muniz was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Isaak Flores was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Lamesa's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-10. As for Brownfield, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-6.

Coincidentally, Lamesa and Brownfield will both be playing Denver City the next time they take the field. The Tornadoes will host the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Cubs will host them at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
