Basketball Recap: Myers Park Falls to Chambers in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Myers Park had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Chambers Cougars by a score of 66-64 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since December 10, 2024.

Myers Park's loss came despite strong showings from Ayo Awosanya and Thomas Vickery. Awosanya dropped a double-double with 26 points and 18 boards, while Vickery posted 20 points and five rebounds. Awosanya is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 18 games he's played dating back to last season. Cash Hall was another key player, putting up eight points.

Chambers got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lavonte 'LJ' Jackson Jr. out in front who put up 13 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Jackson Jr. has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentel 'QJ' Young, who had 16 points.

The victory got Chambers back to even at 1-1.

Myers Park has already played their next matchup, a 74-59 loss against Davidson Day on the 21st. As for Chambers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-60 win against Palisades on the 21st.
