Baseball Game Preview: Niwot Cougars vs. Monarch Coyotes

The Niwot Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Monarch Coyotes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Niwot managed to slip by Mead the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cougars lost 13-1 to the Mavericks on Saturday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Niwot saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arlo Richards, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Charlie Shaw also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Monarch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against Broomfield, falling 18-3.

Monarch's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Niwot, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Niwot's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game.
