Softball Recap: Dighton-Rehoboth Regional's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

It's playoff time, and Dighton-Rehoboth Regional had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Greater New Bedford RVT Bears a 7-0 shutout on Saturday. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Not much got past Edy LaTour, who gave up just four hits to keep Greater New Bedford RVT off the board. LaTour has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Horrocks was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May. Another player making a difference was Sara Marsella, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

The win (which was Dighton-Rehoboth Regional's seventh in a row) raised their record to 27-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Greater New Bedford RVT, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 22-9 record.

Dighton-Rehoboth Regional will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair will be back at it again later today.
