Basketball Game Preview: Huron Tigers vs. Yankton Bucks/Gazelles

The Huron Tigers will take on the Yankton Bucks/Gazelles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yankton took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Huron, who comes in off a win.

Yankton will be up against a hot Huron team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Huron walked away with a 64-51 victory over Watertown on Tuesday. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Arrows are ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Yankton came up short against Roosevelt on Friday and fell 49-40.

Yankton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Huron, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Huron didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Yankton when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 56-50 win. Will Huron repeat their success, or does Yankton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
