Baseball Recap: Knightdale Comes Up Short

Knightdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the East Wake Academy Eagles, falling 13-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 6-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Maximo Jimenez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taybron Simpson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Knightdale's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for East Wake Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Looking ahead, East Wake Academy will square off against Franklin Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Knightdale will be paying especially close attention to East Wake Academy's game: after East Wake Academy faces off against Franklin Academy, they'll take on Knightdale again at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
