Baseball Recap: Wonewoc-Center Find Success

Wonewoc-Center and Necedah pushed the score to 15-7 the last time they played Necedah, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Wolves came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cardinals, sneaking past 3-1. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Keaton Barreau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wonewoc-Center saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reid Byrdy, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Tommy Roehling was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Wonewoc-Center's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Necedah, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Wonewoc-Center will face off against rival Brookwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for the Wolves: they have been struggling with seven straight losses at home dating back to last season, while the Falcons have snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. Meanwhile, Necedah is set to take on their familiar foe New Lisbon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
