Basketball Recap: Hughson Huskies vs. Escalon Cougars
Hughson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 74-51 to the Escalon Cougars. The Huskies were down 62-41 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the defeat, Hughson saw an underclassman step up: freshman Karam Kang went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points. Kang continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Gehrke, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.
Hughson's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Escalon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hughson will square off against Sonora at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sonora is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. Escalon has already played their next game (against Ripon Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
