Palmview comes up short despite Adrian Ibarra's dominant performance

Recap: Palmview Lobos vs. Nixon Mustangs

After flying high against the Edinburg Bobcats last Monday, the Palmview Lobos came back down to earth. Palmview fell 52-44 to Nixon on Friday. Palmview lost against Nixon in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 70-55 score last time.

Despite the loss, Palmview still got an impressive performance from Adrian Ibarra, who scored 16 points. Joe Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.

Uli Torres was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds for Nixon. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Mason Vela, who scored eight points.

Palmview's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Nixon, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmview will square off against Mission Veterans Memorial at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Veterans Memorial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1105th, while Palmview is ranked 459th). As for Nixon, they will head out on the road to face off against Roma at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
