Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Casa Grande Cougars

The Mountain View Mountain Lions will take on the Casa Grande Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Mountain View has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Casa Grande will arrive with three straight wins.

Last Wednesday, Mountain View was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 68-63 to Maricopa.

Mountain View might have lost, but man, Isaiah Romero was a machine: he went 12 for 28 on his way to 31 points along with five boards and three steals. Romero is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joaquin Meek, who went 7 of 16 en route to 17 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Casa Grande). They blew past Vista Grande, posting an 83-35 victory. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Casa Grande has also been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points per game. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

Mountain View strolled past Casa Grande in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 57-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain View since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
