League recap: Oak Grove bests Wayne County in blowout

6A Region 3 recap September 4, 2013

Oak Grove took down Wayne County 45-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Petal and Picayune played the closest game in 6A Region 3 this week, with Petal eventually emerging with a 61-58 victory.

Provine's dynamic duo of CAMERON BOLTON and JOSIAH MOORE proved tough for Murrah to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. BOLTON threw for 25 yards and MOORE had 14 yards receiving.

The Rams' dynamic duo of BOLTON and MOORE proved to be unstoppable against the Mustangs, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

MOORE was the best wideout in the league this week as Provine lost to Murrah.

Donovan Lewis was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 144 yards on 9 carries as Terry lost to Zackare grady's team. Robert Johnson also contributed to the rushing game with 88 yards on the ground.

BOLTON put up the best numbers through the air as the Rams lost to the Mustangs.

Lewis provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bulldogs bested Raymond.

Meridian's Jamarius Smith and Richard McQuarley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 6A Region 3 in both passing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 253 yards this season, while McQuarley, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 5 catches for 147 yards. DEMARQUE BROWN from Provine leads the league in rushing with 217 yards.

Jim Hill made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,677 from 2,897. The improvement was the result of 38-12 victory over Port Gibson last week.
