Basketball Recap: Orangeburg-Wilkinson Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Orangeburg-Wilkinson can now relate to. They took a 68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fox Creek Predators on Thursday. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Predators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why Orangeburg-Wilkinson lost, don't look at Jordan McGahee. Despite the final result, he went 10-for-14 on his way to 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. McGahee is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Jamison, who posted 17 points.

Leading Fox Creek to victory were Justin Vining and Kobe Sims. Vining went 7-for-11 to rack up 22 points in addition to six assists and five boards, while Sims went 8-for-15 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. Brelan Baskett was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson's loss dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Fox Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fox Creek, they will head out to challenge Loris at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Loris sitting on nine straight victories and Fox Creek on four.
